You guys might know that reliance jio was expected to stop its promotional offer by December 31st. But they decided to extend the offer until March 31st by Introducing Happy New year offer. Unlike the previous offer , Happy new year offer contains only 1 GB of High speed data. After that, The speed will be reduced to 128 kbps.  if we use internet mostly for browsing and Instant messaging, 1  GB would be enough. But if you need to use your data for downloading, then the Happy new year offer wont be enough.  So in this post , i will tell you how you can download unlimited using Reliance Jio

With the Happy new year offer reliance also offers unlimited high speed night data from  2 AM to 5 AM. The data you use at this time wont count from your daily 1 GB. But downloading contents by waking up at 2 AM wont be possible for most of you. So we use Scheduling trick to schedule our downloads from 2 AM to 5 AM. With this , the downloading will automatically start at 2 AM and ends at 5 AM thereby not affecting your daily 1 GB quota. Overall, we can browse and use Instant messengers at daytime ny using the daily 1 GB and downloads can be done at the Night time.

For scheduling the downloads,we can use any of the two android apps based on our requirement. if you download torrents, you can use ttorrent app and if you download using browsers, then you can use ADM(Advanced Download manager).

Using ttorrent

• Open ttorrent
• Goto Settings at bottom of menu
• Select Scheduling
• Check the Box saying Enable Time Range
• Select Time Range and select From as 2.10 and To as 4.50

• Now add torrents to ttorrent

Using ADM

• Open ADM
• Select Settings
• Select Planning
• Check the box saying Download Files on a Schedule
• Set Start time as 2.10 and Stop time as 4.50

Make sure you sleep with the data turned on.

Easiest method to type Malayalam in Android

There are different applications available in android for typing different languages. Almost all of them comes with a keypad which contains letters of that language. One problem with using these keypad is, the developers might be able to get all the contents that you type using their keypad. 

There are many softwares available to type malayalam in android devices. I personally used many of them. But none of them gave me a satisfaction, because it is difficult to type in malayalam using those keypads. Also all the letters are not available in most of them. I had to adjust with them by making some changes in the text. I continued my searching to find a good malayalam typing application for my android device.

 
I already knew about the Google handwriting application, which we can use to write the text like in a paper and the application converts it into real text. So, i checked it to know if they support malayalam language. I was happy that they did include malayalam language and i decided to give it a try.

I found it the best way to type malayalam language in android devices. It supports all the letters in malayalam and we can use it easily by handwriting the words. we can use it to type malayalam in any applications include whatsapp, facebook etc. An advantage of google handwriting is that we can write fast comparing to other keypad applications

Create Android Quiz App with MySQL JSON Parsing and PHP

I have been testing my programming skills recently. So I was trying to study android by creating some simple applications by using Android studio. So, In this post i will share the code for creating an android quiz app. with this app, the user can select one answer from the four options available. The score of the quiz is also displayed at the end of the quiz.

Requirements for Creating Android Quiz app

• Computer with Android studio Installed
• Basic Knowledge about Android studio
• MySQL database (if you dont have a MySQL database, click here to learn more about free MySQL database)

About the Application

First of all. I will tell you what we are trying to achieve to give a basic idea about what we are about to create. In the Home screen you can see a button called start quiz. Now you will be redirected to a screen with a question and four options. user can select one option from the group and click submit. Now it will show the right answer in Green color text. Then, user can click next to go to next question. After completing the quiz, The score is displayed.

Setting up MySQL server for  Android app

First, we have to setup MySQL database for storing questions and answers. Open phpmyadmin and create a database. Inside the database, create a table called quiz_questions with 4 fields. The details of the fields inside the table are given below.

Enter some data to the table by using phpmyadmin. ID will be auto incremented. In the possible_answers field, Enter the options seperated by comma. In the correct answer field, enter which is the correct answer. if the third option is the correct answer, Enter the correct_answer field as 3.
Now copy the below code and paste in a notepad file. change the host, user,password and database name and save it as quiz.php .

Now upload this file to the root of your MySQL server by using file manager in your cpanel or by using FTP. Now try accessing the file by using,
http://yoursiteurl.com/quiz.php. If it is showing the data of your table successfully. Save the Url as we need it in future. Proceed with the below steps.

How to create Android quiz app

update (15/09/2017) : The apache http library is depreciated. So you have to add this compile statement in your App level build.gradle file(under dependencies)

• First of all. create a new project in Android Studio. Enter all the details. Select Blank activity, On next screen click finish
• In the activity_main.xml, paste the below code.

In the MainActivity.java, Paste the below code

Now create a new activity by right clicking on App and select New>>Activity>>Blank Activity
Name it as QuizActivity. In the activity_quiz.xml, paste below code



In the QuizActivity.java, Paste below code

In line number 185, you can see a space for a url. Paste the url for the MySQL server you created earlier. it will be like http://yoursite.com/quiz.php
Now Create another activitylike above and name it as complete
Paste the below code in activity_complete.xml


Now in the complete.java, Paste the below code


Now, Open strings.xml from res>>values>>strings.xml
Inside resources tag, paste the below code


Thats all. Now try to run the application. Hoorah..  Thats it.

Get Free MySQL database server for Android Apps

Developing an android app is not a big deal for professional programmers. But it  is a bit difficult for those who are new to this field. Nowadays, students are seeing programming as a hobby. They develop different type of simple android apps to learn more about the programming.

But, a problem for android newbies is that, most applications might require a Sqlite or MySQL database for fetching data to and from the application. Most hosting services charge about 4$ per month for mysql servers. For some, it might be difficult to find money for paying for these services. Once, i also faced similar issue. Just for my hobby purposes, i didnt want to spend money. So i decided to search for a hosting service which provides limited features for free. I have searched google for different sites, and none of the results indicate about a free server for android apps.

Free MySQL Database server for Android Apps

I had already created a WordPress site with 000webhost. Which provides free wordpress or php webhosting. In that site i have used MySQL databases for my wordpress website. So i decided to check if the free Mysql database will work for my android app.

I have checked some websites and found that In android app, the data is inserted or retrieved from a MySQL database is by using php. So i have created a new website in 000webhost with their free sub domain, and created a MySQL database.

After creating the database, i found that, i have all the details that is required for setting up my server for my android app. I have a hostname, username, password and database name. I have used these information in a php file and uploaded it to Public_html folder in my 000webhost filemanager. I used JSON parsing for getting data from the php page. And hoorah.. It worked perfectly.

Note that 000webhost is a free service and it may not contain all the premium features. But for a free service, it is worth try. Don't use this website if your app have huge traffic. It might cause the server to crash.

Play FIFA offline in Android [apk+obb]

There is no doubt that FIFA is the best football game in android. FIFA is a great game from EA sports. They are releasing new version of the game each year like FIFA 14,FIFA 15,FIFA 16 etc. The problem is that the  versions released after FIFA 14 requires a fulltime internet or data connection to Play. I have played latest version of FIFA in my phone, and had many problems with the EA server. Sometimes the game just stops in the middle of the play, saying that it has failed to connect with the server.

FIFA 14 contains different modes including ultimate team , manager mode, quick play, tournament mode etc. The graphics, gameplay and visual effects are mostly similar to FIFA 15. We can play all the modes offline. It also have transfer markets available in Manager mode. 

A problem with FIFA 14 is that manager mode, kick off and tournament are locked for free users. For unlocking these , one have to pay. But, the FIFA 14 servers are now down and the purchase option is no longer working. So there are some cracked versions available where we can unlock these without paying money. How to Play FIFA Offline

• First , you have to download FIFA 14 apk and OBB  data from below Links. The apk is modded. That is, it is unlocked to play all modes.

• Install the FIFA 14 apk
• Now Extract the obb zip file. And Copy the folder named com.ea.game.fifa14_row to Android>>obb (Note: Place the file in your default storage. if it is Phone memory , paste it in the Android>>obb folder in the phone memory. Otherwise to the external storage asap. if you dont have a folder named obb, just create one)

Transfer files between PC and Android by using Xender

There are many ways to transfer files between your android or windows smartphone to PC. You can use USB cable, Bluetooth etc. By using USB cable, we can transmit data fast. But Bluetooth is not an effective method to transfer data between your smartphone and computer because of its low data
transfer rate.

There is a better way to transfer files wirelessly by using your WiFi. There is no need to have internet in your device or PC. For this you need to have a famous data transfer application named Xender in your smartphone. No specific software is needed in the Computer. For this to work, PC must
have WiFi facility

How to transfer files between PC and smartphone

• Open Xender in your device
• Now click on the blue icon

• Now you can see something like the below screenshot. Click on the PC/MAC option

• Now select Create Hotspot option

• Wait until you see a screen like this. Don't close this screen

• Now turn on your PC WiFi and connect to the WiFi starting with name something like Xender_AP

• Open any browser in your PC such as Google chrome, Mozilla Firefox etc. 
• On the Address bar type in the IP address that is shown on the Xender application in your phone. 
• Now Click on Accept in your Android Device

• And thats it. Now you can browse and transfer all the files in your android device from your PC.
